On November 18, 2023, Tagum Cooperative across all branches and satellite offices came together to celebrate International Men’s Day, a day dedicated to appreciating and acknowledging the achievements and contributions of men in cooperatives and societies. The celebration, organized by the Gender & Development /Gender Equality (GAD/GE) Committee, took place 1 day in advance of the official date, which falls on November 19 each year.

The event, attended by nearly 200 TC Members in the TC Gymnasium, TC Main Office, saw the active participation of both male and female members, many of whom are registered under the Pabilisang Savings para sa mga Drivers Advocacy (PaSaDA).

The celebration featured various activities, including booth displays, free prostate examinations, a learning session on safe driving, and a talent showcase through a lively karaoke session.

International Men’s Day aims to raise awareness and address issues related to men’s health and safety. In line with this, Tagum Cooperative, through its products and services, prioritizes the safety of both male and female members. The cooperative offers insurance products such as accident and life insurance, along with emergency-ready savings products. This commitment extends not only to its members but also to the broader community. Given the rising incidents of road accidents, this year’s celebration focused on men’s safety and health. Guest Speaker Mr. Junjie Pacatang, RCrim from Land Transportation Office shared his insights. The GAD/GE Committee presented this learning session and activities highlighting key aspects of men’s safety. Men’s safety encompasses various concerns related to well-being, security, and health across different aspects of life. The cooperative recognizes the importance of addressing these concerns comprehensively to ensure that individuals of all genders can lead safe and fulfilling lives. Leslie S. Canuto
