In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, the 1st Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company, under the dynamic leadership of Force Commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Wildemar T. Tiu, recently orchestrated a gift-giving program as part of the “Revitalized Pulis Sa Barangay” (R-PSB) initiative. Collaborating with Tagum Cooperative, represented by TC Main Branch Manager Clyjene G. Solis, the battalion aimed to bring joy to 34 households, encompassing around 40 children residing in Sitio Himatis, Barangay Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte, on December 13, 2023.

The “Revitalized Pulis Sa Barangay” (R-PSB) program,  spearheaded by the Philippine National Police Regional Office (PRO) 11, has been making waves across the Davao Region. Designed to fortify barangay-based institutions, expand basic government services, and positively impact vulnerable communities, this initiative has found a special resonance during the festive Christmas season. The DNPMFC, choosing Tagum Cooperative as a key partner, sought to extend its services beyond law enforcement, radiating joy and warmth to an indigenous community in Barangay Sto. Niño, Talaingod.

Traversing challenging terrain, the dedicated team journeyed for almost an hour on foot, overcoming hills to reach the remote Sitio Himatis. Yet the challenging journey was met with an uplifting sight – the genuine smiles and grateful spirits of the indigenous people (IP) who welcomed them. The true spirit of Christmas permeated the air, with both givers and receivers sharing in the joy of the season.

This act of selfless love materialized in the form of personal hygiene kits, food supplies, shirts, and children’s slippers which were carefully selected tailored to meet the immediate needs of the beneficiaries. The gesture exemplifies Tagum Cooperative’s unwavering commitment to embody the 7th Cooperative Principle: Concern for the Community. Their collaborative efforts with private and government agencies underscore a dedication to creating sustainable impacts within underserved and marginalized sectors of society.

In the embrace of the holiday spirit, the DNPMFC and Tagum Cooperative’s joint initiative serves as a shining example of how partnerships, rooted in compassion and community-centric values, can illuminate the lives of those in need. This Christmas, the echoes of joy resonate far beyond the hills of Talaingod, symbolizing the potential for positive transformation through collective goodwill.
