Tagum Cooperative joyously commemorated its 56th Founding Anniversary on October 13, 2023, at the TC Main Office in Magugpo West, Tagum City, Davao Del Norte. Originating in May 1967 as the ‘Holy Name Society (HNS) of Tagum Parish’, a church-based credit union, the cooperative emerged from humble beginnings with a startup capital of Eighty Pesos (P80.00). Over the years, Tagum Cooperative has not only thrived financially but has also witnessed remarkable growth in its membership.

The journey to success was far from easy, marked by challenges that tested the cooperative’s resilience. Despite the adversity, Tagum Cooperatives’ breakthroughs have been extraordinary. The ongoing commitment to learning, innovation, adaptability, and embracing necessary changes reflects its dedication to realizing its vision and mission. 

The 56th anniversary is a remarkable milestone, deserving celebration for the positive impact on members, officers, employees, and the broader community. The theme for this year’s celebration, “ Celebrating Excellence in Service,” underscores the cooperative’s commitment to outstanding service. The event aimed to foster a sense of community and belonging among members, paying tribute to the establishment of Tagum Cooperative and reflecting on the founders’ vision.

The celebration sought to honor the pioneering members who laid the foundation for the cooperative through a simple yet meaningful observance. It was an opportunity to strengthen relationships among stakeholders and the community, uniting everyone for a common purpose.

The event commenced with a special mass at the 4th Floor Function Hall of TC Main Building, Magugpo West, Tagum City, followed by a lively motorcade around Tagum City, Davao Del Norte. The historic program that followed, held at the same venue, featured the participation of esteemed former officers of Tagum Cooperative, including Mr. Antonio Arañas, Ms Fe Adlawan, Ms Evelia Sator, Ms Miriam Baloyo, and Ms. Rosamaria Torrejano, TC incumbent Officers, Members who performed through a singing contests and their loved ones, drum and bugle from invited school, and TC employees.

Notable attendees from TC’s stakeholders included SDS Ms. Alona C. Uy from Tagum City Schools Division, Asst SDS Rebecca C. Sagot from Del Norte Schools Division, and SDS Josephine L. Fadul from Davao Oriental Schools Division, Asst. PHRMO of Davao Del Norte- Ms. Mila C. Laureano, Admin Asst II of Davao Regional Medical Center- Ms. Debbie M. Jao.
