As a new member of the Tagum Cooperative (TC), have you taken the necessary steps to participate in the Continuing Membership Education (CME) session?

Cooperative Membership Education is one of the key programs under the cooperative’s educational initiatives specifically designed to be conducted for new TC members. It plays a vital role in shaping members’ knowledge, understanding, and values as cooperative members. After attending the Pre-Membership Orientation (PMO), which provides a brief one-hour introduction to the cooperative’s products and services, CME offers a deeper dive into the cooperative’s core principles and practices.

CME is part of the Member Development Program (MDP), a structured and ladderized educational system focused on continuous learning and development for all Tagum Cooperative members. The program seeks to equip members with a solid understanding of cooperative values and their role in contributing to the cooperative’s growth and success.

CME is now conducted using an online platform, and one session is held every month, typically during the fourth week. New TC members are encouraged to participate in these sessions. The training program focuses on the “Fundamentals of Cooperatives,” covering topics such as the origins and legal framework of cooperatives, the principles and values that guide them, the roles, duties, and privileges of members, as well as the features and significance of the Model Credit Union Building (MCUB) Technology.

For the first quarter of the year, the CME program successfully mobilized close to seven hundred (700) new TC members eager to strengthen their cooperative spirit with the correct values and principles.

Apart from the information provided in learning, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from TC Officers and Management present during the activity. The event also featured interactive activities such as trivia quizzes, raffle draws, and other surprises.

The Member Development Plan has been framed to provide ongoing education for all TC members, ensuring that they continue to develop throughout their membership period. Leslie S. Canuto
