Tagum Cooperative, after the past 3 years of holding online activities, finally organized the face-to-face Youth Leadership Summit held on January 28, 2023 at Tagum City Historical and Cultural Center participated by the 235 delegates from the different elementary and secondary schools in Region XI.
Highlights of the event included the Wallet Savings product launching such as: Kiddie Birthday Savings, Kiddie Balik Eskwela Saving (BEs), Graduation Saving, Moving Up Saving Enhancement (MUSE).
Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas, Board of Directors Chairperson, CPA, DBA graced the occasion and challenged the young attendees to continue honing their leadership skills as they are the future influential persons who will be leading organizations like the cooperative or in whatever field they will be inclined and will be choosing in the future. “Definitely, these kids are the future leaders of our country,” she emphasized.
The members of the Board of Directors present were Dir. Josephine L. Fadul, Ed.D, Chairperson, Youth Committee; Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, Ed.D.,Vice Chairperson, Youth Committee; Dir. Hermarie T. Esmael; Dir. Rosamaria Torrejano, CPA; and Dir. Vicente Binag. Further, Ms. Flordeliza Alegarbes, Member, Youth Committee Senior Management; Ms. Juris D. Perez, CPA,MBA Chief Executive Officer; and Mr. Jerry D. Cabanisasa, MM, MBA Acting Chief Operating Officer also witnessed the event.
“Lead from within”, started Dir. Josephine L. Fadul, who spoke as the SDS of Tagum City and at the same time as Member of the TC Board of Directors. She added that these student- leaders are lucky enough to have this opportunity, provided by Tagum Coop, to develop their potentials and to see their fellow youth in a magnificent venue after the several days of staying at home.
Evidently, the smiles on the face of every delegate, their active participation in the discussions, their eagerness and attentiveness in responding to the speakers’ inquiries signaled that they really thirst for this kind of activity. They are engaged in the discussions. No dull moments.
“Never be afraid to fail. Failures will make you stronger in the end”, said Mr. Reven Bryan Dela Peña, Communications Specialist, a keynote speaker on Leading with strength: Overcoming your weaknesses. He inspired the participants with his own experiences when he was still like them- young leaders in school. He also exclaimed that as leaders, these young people must develop a positive mindset.
Overwhelmed, the delegates were full of excitement while sharing their experiences relative to the topic. The moments given to them amused the crowd hearing to their triumphant in battling their own trials in becoming a leader. “I felt happy and proud that I had experienced losing a race sometime and now stand still to continue my dream to become a leader in our school. Thank you for this opportunity, I am hopeful that someday I will become an effective leader”, said Isaiah Bliss Aguinaldo, a Grade 4 participant from Magupo Pilot Central Elementary School.
Another speaker said, “This leadership summit will help empowers the youth, training them to do the right action in every situation”, – Mr. Juanquine Carlo Castro, Founder of Youth Service Philippines. In order for them to grow, the youth must be open to development, utilize their energy in helping individuals in need as a simple training. They must have constant skills development and continue learning through proper education. These young people can be the agents of change, so they must learn leading with passion, he furthered.
Indeed, everyone is thankful for the successful Leadership Summit. They culminated the event through the photo opportunity with the personnel and their comrades whom they made literally a historical moment in the place. The grateful promising young leaders stated that they were looking forward for more gatherings like this in the future. To God be the glory!
