Women have long been recognized as “Ilaw ng Tahanan” in families and communities, yet many continue to face challenges in accessing essential support, particularly in maternal health and well-being. In line with the celebration of Women’s Month 2025, observed throughout March, Tagum Cooperative pays tribute to women by advocating welfare programs that address their unique needs.

One of the key activities in this celebration is Buntis Day 2025, a dedicated event organized by the Member Benefit and Assistance Department (MBA) and spearheaded by its manager, Mr. Lourence T. Cagaanan, to provide expectant mothers with essential healthcare resources, education, and assistance.

To extend this support to the community, The MBA team visited healthcare centers in various barangays across Tagum City, including Apokon on March 4, Cuambogan on March 6, San Isidro on March 11, Bincungan on March 18, and Libuganon on March 20. Each site accommodated around 40 pregnant women, all of whom received free pre-natal check-ups, prenatal vitamins, and pregnancy kits as part of the Pre-Natal Sponsorship Activity.

Simultaneously, Tagum Cooperative’s branches and satellite offices took part in the celebration by distributing tokens of appreciation to women of all ages on March 8. This initiative not only recognized pregnant members but also honored the contributions of women in society.

The success of these activities was made possible through the support of the Board of Directors and Senior Management, whose engagement with the cooperative’s principle of community service continues to drive developmental programs.

As this year’s National Women’s Month theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, Tagum Cooperative aligns its programs with the national call for gender equality and inclusivity.

By translating advocacy into concrete action, the cooperative contributes to building a society where women, regardless of their background or circumstances, are empowered, valued, and provided with opportunities to enjoy. Britney Ann B. Manayon
